Comments: Catherynne M. Valente is an American science fiction and fantasy author best known for her young adult novel The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making and its sequels. She has published more than twenty novels and several dozen works of short fiction. Her writing has earned her an Andre Norton Award, a Mythopoeic Award, and multiple Locus Awards, as well as several Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy Award nominations. Valente was also a regular cast member of the Hugo-winning podcast the SF Squeecast. Although she writes all of her fiction under the name Catherynne M. Valente, she has written some critical work under the name Bethany L. Thomas.

Valente has a website named Catherynne M. Valente and another called Catherynne M. Valente's Fairyland. She also writes a blog titled Rules for Anchorites. She can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.
