Musical Artist - The Police

The Police were a British band mostly consisting of Sting, Stewart Copeland, and Andy Summers. Beginning in the late 1970s and through the early to mid-1980s, the band released a string of successful albums, topping the U.K. album charts six times, and the U.S. chart once. These albums included many of the iconic hits of the era, including De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da, Don't Stand So Close to Me, Every Breath You Take, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Message in a Bottle, Walking on the Moon, Wrapped Around Your Finger. Over the course of their career, the Police have sold more than 75 million albums.

In addition to their considerable commercial success, the Police have met with critical acclaim as well. They have won six Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music award. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, their first year of eligibility. In 1983, after their Synchronicity tour, Sting launched a solo career and the band only appeared together sporadically after that. The band managed to perform a few concerts and release one final single in 1986, but efforts to record a sixth studio album foundered and the band split up that year.

The Police got together in 2007 and launched a reunion tour which lasted until 2008. They then split up again and have not worked together since. The band has an official website named The Police. They can also be found on Facebook.
