Comments: Five years after they first appeared, the Mythopoeic Awards got around to giving their Best Adult Fantasy Award to a man, honoring Poul Anderson for his novel A Midsummer Tempest. One might be inclined to shout "misandry", but then again, all of the other genre awards being handed out in the mid-1970s were all heavily biased in favor of male authors, so the counterweight of the Mythopoeic Awards was sorely needed.
On another note, this was the last year that the Best Adult Fantasy Literature Award was handed out until 1981. The Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies was handed out in 1976, but the Fantasy Award was not. Between 1976 and 1981, no Mythopoeic Awards were bestowed. It is unclear as to why this interruption took place, the only thing I know is that it did.
