Between 1971 and 1976 the Best Anthology award was split into two awards - the Best Original Anthology award, and this award, intended to honor the best anthology or collection of reprinted material. After four years in which Terry Carr dominated the field, the experiment in splitting up the Best Anthology award was abandoned and the Original Anthology and Reprint Anthology awards were merged back together.
