Author - Upchurch, Roc

Birth: I don't know when, but I'm guessing it was in Philadelphia.

Death: Still alive.

Comments: Roc Upchurch is an American artist best known for illustrating the Rat Queens comic series. In November 2014, Upchurch was arrested on a domestic violence charge when he allegedly assaulted his ex-wife. Image Comics dropped him from the Rat Queens series shortly thereafter, replacing Upchurch with another artist. His career appear to now be on hold.

Upchurch has a Deviant Art page for his work, and a blog named Rocwell Studios. The blog has not been updated since November 2014. He can also be found on Twitter and Tumblr. Like his blog, neither has had any activity since November 2014. He also has a Facebook page.

My reviews of Roc Upchurch's books:
Rat Queens, Volume One: Sass and Sorcery (with Kurtis J. Wiebe)

Author - Unknown Scribbler

Birth: I have no idea when.

Death: I don't think it has happened yet.

Comments: The Unknown Scribbler is an author and illustrator and something of an enigma. While most pseudonyms can be traced back to the person behind them with some effort and a little research, the true identity of the Unknown Scribbler remains elusive. I can state that she is a woman, she is an Ed Gorey fan, and that she worked in a variety of service jobs before moving on to a career as an editorial illustrator, book designer, and graphic designer. She has published many illustrations in the Los Angeles Times Book Review, and has had a number of her illustrations syndicated nationally. Other than that, I can't find any information about the woman behind the Unknown Scribbler.

Author - Stevenson, Noelle

Birth: I have no idea when, but it happened.

Death: Still alive and advocating friendship to the max.

She originally did work as a fan artist under the name "gingerhaze" and has since moved on to professional work. In addition to her own comic series, she has also worked for Marvel writing both the Thor and Runaways titles. Her Lumberjanes comic won two Eisner Awards in 2015.

Author - Patterson, Brian

Me and Patterson at GenCon 2014
Birth: March 15, 1977.

Death: Still alive and making jokes about pixilated penises.

Comments: Brian Patterson is an American illustrator best known for his webcomic d20 Monkey. As a long-time lover of role-playing games, Patterson created d20 Monkey as a vehicle for stories about the people who play the games, and so that he could draw pixilated penises every now and then. For reference, the picture I took with him was just after Patterson's panel at GenCon titled "d20 and Dick Jokes". Pattern has a deep and abiding love of Christmas, and a regular feature of d20 Monkey is a Christmas arc that involves one of the regular characters on the strip who is actually Santa Claus. He also works as a freelance illustrator, having done several projects for various game companies.

Patterson maintains the website d20 Monkey, which is the home of the d20 Monkey webcomic. He can also be found on Twitter, Google+, and Facebook.

Author - Barlowe, Wayne Douglas

Birth: January 6, 1958.

Death: Still alive and illustrating science fiction.

Comments: Wayne Douglas Barlowe is a popular science fiction and fantasy artist who has illustrated numerous covers for science fiction and fantasy related publications, and has also been involved in numerous movie and television show productions. He has created two substantial works of genre art, the first being Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials, and its companion book Barlowe's Guide to Fantasy. As I cannot let a Babylon 5 reference go unmentioned, I must note that Barlowe contributed much of the artwork for the movie Thirdspace.

Barlowe is married to Shawna McCarthy, who was the creative force behind the magazine Realms of Fantasy for its entire existence. He has an official webpage, and a Facebook page. Some of his artwork is featured on ArtsForge.
