So this is a little late, but I figured the internet needed yet another posting of Rachel Bloom's incredibly funny and endearingly lewd tribute video to science fiction author Ray Bradbury titled Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury. The reason I couldn't let this song and video pass without posting it is that the song incorporates so many great Ray Bradbury titles into its lyrics. In order of their appearance, the song makes references to: The Illustrated Man, Dandelion Wine, Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, S Is for Space, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. Somehow Bloom manages to incorporate a parody of Brittney Spears into the video as well, and it doesn't seem out of place at all. In just a few minutes, Bloom manages to extol the virtues of a not inconsequential chunk of Bradbury's career in a way that is both respectful and funny. Or at least as respectful as a song that talks about giving the author a blowjob in the singer's car can be.
Rachel Bloom meets Ray Bradbury. Oddly, they don't appear to be having sex. |
For all you aspiring speculative fiction writers out there, the idea that someday a really funny, smart, and attractive person will make a video extolling your virtues and proposing to have sex with you in their car should serve as a little added incentive to keep pounding away on the keyboard during those long hours.
