Follow Friday - For the Fourth Time

It's Friday again, which means it's time for Follow Friday. To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Host (Parajunkee) and any one else you want to follow on the list.
  2. Follow our Featured Bloggers - Kathy of Vision Quest Fail.
  3. Put your Blog name and URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments.
  5. Follow, follow, follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "Hi".
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the love . . . and the followers.
  7. If you want to show the link list, just follow the link below the entries and copy and paste it within your post!
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday Hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
Which brings us to the Follow Friday question of the week: What is the book you are currently 'pushing'? (Pushing meaning trying to get people to read it).

Other than giving good reviews to books I like, I don't really 'push' books. I'll digress with a brief anecdote. Many years ago I went with a group of friends to see the movie Noises Off, a quirky theatre based comedy with a really good cast - Michael Caine, Carol Burnette, John Ritter, Christopher Reeve, Marilu Henner, Nicolette Sheridan, Denholm Elliott, and Julie Hagarty. We absolutely loved the movie, and were falling out of out seats with laughter. Someone at work the next day asked if I'd seen any good movies lately, so naturally I recommended Noises Off. She went to see it, and absolutely hated it. Maybe the reason my friends and I loved the movie was that we were all active in our local community theater group. I don't know. But the end result is that I tend to not recommend movies, books, or television shows to anyone unless I know they tastes really well or, as I do on my blog, I can give a reasonable explanation as to why I liked (or disliked) a book, and the recipient of my thoughts has a basis on which to decide if they want to take my advice or not. Because, in my opinion, the reason why someone likes a book is far more important that the mere fact that they liked it.
