Jen at Crazy for Books restarted her weekly Book Blogger Hop to help book bloggers connect with one another, but then couldn't continue, so she handed the hosting responsibilities off to Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. The only requirements to participate in the Hop are to write and link a post answering the weekly question and then visit other blogs that are also participating to see if you like their blog and would like to follow them.
This week Billy asks: How reliable can you say you are in terms of having promised reviews completed for blog tours or publisher and author requests?
I am completely unreliable. I also don't like missing deadlines. To prevent this from becoming a problem, I almost never participate in blog tours or promise to have reviews completed by a particular deadline. I don't miss deadlines for material related to my blog by the simple expedient of pretty much never agreeing to deadlines in the first place. If I accept a book for review, I promise that I will review it, but I make no assurances as to when. If a publisher or author needs a book reviewed by or on a particular date, then I simply decline the offer of the book. I have a sufficient number of deadlines in my life that I don't need to add any more in exchange for books - after all, I already have enough books that if I were to manage to read and review a book a day, I wouldn't need to buy a new book for about twenty years.
