Musical Artist - Holgate, Ron

Ron Holgate is an American actor and opera singer best known for his Tony Award-winning performance as Richard Henry Lee in the original Broadway production of the musical 1776. Holgate studied drama at Northwestern University, and opera at Tanglewood and the New England Conservatory before launching a successful career as an opera singer. He eventually turned to musical theater, and in addition to his turn as Richard Henry Lee in 1776, he has appeared in prominent roles in productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Lend Me a Tenor, Annie Get Your Gun, 42nd Street, Guys and Dolls,Urinetown, and Kiss Me Kate. As an opera singer, he has sung the lead role in productions of La Boheme, Don Giovanni, and Phillip Marshall. Holgate also played Richard Henry Lee in the 1972 film adaptation of 1776.
