Musical Artist - The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra

The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra is an orchestra formed in 1987 to "enliven the world of Baroque music with new sounds" with an emphasis on performing using musical instruments from the Baroque period. As one might expect, the group is based in the city of Freiburg, but they have toured internationally since 1989. In addition to Baroque music, the orchestra performs pieces by Beethoven, Schubert, and Weber, as well as contemporary music. The orchestra is organized in a mostly democratic manner, usually choosing their musical directors and conductors from within their own ranks. They have, however, worked with guest conductors from time to time.

The orchestra has an official website named Freiburger Barockorchester. Given their origin, it should come as no surprise that the website is in German.
