Death: Still alive and writing about ancient Rome.
Comments: Steven Saylor is an American author of historical fiction whose primary focus thus far has been stories set in ancient Rome and a pair of novels set in Texas, one of which is a murder mystery set in the 1880s and is based upon an actual case. He attended the University of Texas where he studied history classics, which seems natural given the chosen subject matter for his writing. Saylor has also written erotic fiction under the pen name Aaron Travis.
