Death: December 14, 1935.
Comments: Stanley G. Weinbaum was an American science fiction author best known for his short story A Martian Odyssey. Before he began publishing science fiction stories, Weinbaum attended the University of Wisconsin and published a romance novel titled The Lady Dances. Although his science fiction writing career was tragically short, ended by his untimely death from lung cancer a mere eighteen months after he published A Martian Odyssey, he managed to pack several fairly influential stories into his short run including The Lotus Eaters, Valley of Dreams, Flight on Titan, and Parasite Planet.
