Comments: Kate Wilhelm is a prominent American science fiction writer. She is best known for her Hugo Award winning novel Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang, but she has published numerous other novels and pieces of short fiction. Wilhelm is also known for her Barbara Holloway mystery novels. She has long been involved in helping other writers hone their skills, and was one of the co-founders of the Clarion Writers Workshop.
Wilhelm's writing has been honored many times. She has won three Nebula Awards, two Nebula Awards and two Locus Awards. She was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2003. Until his death in 2002, Wilhelm was married to science fiction author and editor Damon Knight. She maintains an official website named Kate Wilhelm: Author.
