Death: March 11, 1969.
Comments: John Wyndham is the pen name of John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Benyon Harris, an author known for his post-apocalyptic science fiction stories. He was born into a moderately well-off family, although his parents separated when he was eight. After spending much of his childhood in a variety of preparatory schools, Wyndham set out and took up a variety of jobs, but mostly lived off a family allowance. He took up writing in the 1920s, writing mostly short fiction under the names John Benyon, Johnson Harris, Wyndham Parks, John B. Harris, and Lucas Parks. Wyndham served in the British army during World War II, participating in the Normandy landings. After the war, Wyndham took up novel writing, and produced seven mostly apocalyptic science fiction novels starting with The Day of the Triffids.
