Death: January 6, 2006 (some sources state that he died in 1986).
Comments: J.F. Bone was a science fiction author who, like so many other prolific authors from the heyday of magazine fiction in the 1950s and 1960s, is mostly forgotten now. He was a veterinarian by trade, and wrote science fiction on the side. He only wrote a handful of mediocre novels, but he published almost three dozen works of short fiction.
His most prominent story, The Lani People, is mostly famous for imagining a highly sexualized race of female aliens that seem to be enticing, but turn out to be more dangerous than they look. Unfortunately, the rest of Bone's work is less interesting, and is mostly uncollected, leading to his current obscurity.
