Birth: July 1, 1869.
Death: September 26, 1946.
Comments: William Strunk Jr. was a professor of English at Cornell University for nearly half a century. Stunk earned a B.A. from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.
Stunk is famous for producing one of the definitive writing style guides: The Elements of Style, which was originally produced solely for the benefit of his students. The book is now pretty much required reading for anyone in the English-speaking world who writes, which in the modern age means the bulk of the population.
My reviews of William Strunk, Jr.'s books:
The Elements of Style (3rd Edition) (with E. B. White)
Other books by William Strunk, Jr. I have read but not reviewed:
None
