Follow Friday - The Thirty-Eighth Parallel Separates the Koreas

It's Friday again, and this means it's time for Follow Friday. There has been a slight change to the format, as now there are two Follow Friday hosts blogs and two Follow Friday Features Bloggers each week. To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. Follow both of the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts (Parajunkee and Alison Can Read) and any one else you want to follow on the list.
  2. Follow the two Featured Bloggers of the week - Books & Barks and Lauren's Book Blog.
  3. Put your Blog name and URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments.
  5. Follow, follow, follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "Hi".
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the love . . . and the followers.
  7. If you want to show the link list, just follow the link below the entries and copy and paste it within your post!
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday Hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
And now for the Follow Friday Question: Tell Santa what books you want for Christmas!

I have over seven thousand books in my personal library, so there aren't a whole lot of books that I really want that I don't already have. However, the book I would most like to get is Edgar Pangborn's A Mirror for Observers, which is the only winner of the International Fantasy Award for best fiction novel that I do not own. Unfortunately, the book is very rare and hard to find.

  1. Oh man it must be tough to have a book on your list for Santa that is hard to find. Here's hoping he knows how to use Ebay!

  2. Here's hoping that Santa pulls through for you and gets you that book! I'm sure it's out there somewhere with your name written all over it. Good luck!

  3. @My anxious life: I can't really complain, given that I have such an extensive collection of books already, but having that one missing from my shelf kind of sticks out like a sore thumb at this point.

  4. @Megan: I hope you're right! Well, about the Santa pulling through part. But I hope my name isn't written on it. That'd ruin the cover. :)

I may just come and sit at your place:D

  6. @Novels On the Run: I get a lot or request like that. :) The exact figure is actually 7,219 books, and I know this because I am obsessed enough to keep track of my books in that kind of detail.

  7. Hello and happy Friday. Just hopping through. I don't have quite that many books in my home yet, but I'm sure I'll get there one day with my book-buying and collection addiction. Haha.
Hope Santa pulls through and you get that rare book you're looking for. :)

    Have a great weekend!

  13. You always freak me out with the 7K+ book comment. I'm waiting to see you on the hoarding show on A&E. Hee hee. You need to make a book fort and take pictures. I would also worry about basements too. Don't they tend to be wet and musty?? I don't know anything about basements except what I see in movies, we can't have basements in my neck of the woods, unless we want to have an indoor swimming pool.

    Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Follow Friday. X ♡ X ♡ - Parajunkee

  18. Hi, there!

    I just became a follower!

Although I haven't featured it much lately, I am a great lover of science fiction!! (I'm a die-hard Trekkie, for one thing; for another, I think Cordwainer Smith practically walks on water -- in the afterlife, of course....) I do feature fantasy a bit more.

I really admire two things you've posted on your blog: you're attempting to read every novel that's won the Hugo and International Fantasy Awards, and you have over 7,000 books!!!! WOW. My hat's off to you!! Live long and prosper!!!

I'm going to look up this out-of-print book you've mentioned. Maybe Santa can check out eBay for me, too. Who knows?

    Here's my FF post:

  19. @Pixie: I hope you enjoy filling out your collection. Acquiring my collection is almost as much fun as reading them.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Alison Can Read: I hope you get your collection once you are settled down.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Sarah Brown: I don't have the exact number, but I've read about half of them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Tristan: I guess it is a lot of books, but I am always looking for more. I just picked up 200+ back issues of Analog, Asimov's and some other fiction oriented magazines.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Lauren B: Thank you. I hope so too!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Lindsay: Thank you for letting me know, I'll have to check it out!

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Kristan: I have not read them all. My Mount-To-Be-Read is epic in size.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Lindsay Cummings: Thank you and happy Friday (er, Sunday) to you too!

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Parajunkee: I only hoard books, honest. I think I may be able to avoid showing up on A&E.

Our basement is finished, so it is more or less just like the rest of the house. The only danger is that we have an access stairwell that leads from the outside to the basement. If the drain in the stairwell gets clogged up with grass or leaves or something when it rains then water can flood into the basement. Its not a huge problem if you catch it right away and unblock the drain, but if neglected we could end up with inches of water all over the floor.

  29. @Anna: Thank you, I hope you get your library too!

  30. @Kaite: It is kind of an obscure book, so I'm not surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Giselle: When I list it out it seems like a lot, but when I look at them on the shelves it doesn't. Its weird.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Maria Behar: Thanks for coming by. I'm a little behind on my journey through the Hugo and International Fantasy winners, but I'm getting there.

  33. @LaCherenda: Thank you for coming by. I'm glad you like it. I'll be glad to come by and follow you back.
