Comments: Sean Wallace is an American science fiction editor best known for his work editing magazines such as Clarkesworld and Fantasy Magazine. Wallace attended the University of Akron, and started his first press - Cosmos Books - in Ohio. He is currently to owner of Prime Books, and in addition to editing Clarkesworld and Fantasy Magazine, he also edits the magazine The Dark. Over the course of his career, Wallace has edited numerous anthologies including The Mammoth Book of Dieselpunk, Robots: The Recent A.I., Phantom, Bandersnatch, Japanese Dreams, and several others. For his work, Wallace has won three Hugo Awards and two World Fantasy Awards.

Wallace writes a blog on LiveJournal titled Old Charlie Brown, although it is infrequently updated. He can also be found on Facebook.

Comments: Sheila Williams is a science fiction author and editor. In addition to editing several anthologies and writing a couple books, she has been the editor of Asimov's Science Fiction since 2004. She holds a B.A. from Elmira College and an M.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. She was hired by Asimov's Science Fiction while she was still in graduate school, and has worked for the magazine since then. She is one of the co-founders of the Dell Magazines Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Science Fiction and Fantasy and in 2010 she won the Hugo Award for Best Short Form Editor.

Author - Waugh, Charles G.

Comments: Charles G. Waugh is an American science fiction editor who has frequently collaborated with Martin H. Greenberg and Isaac Asimov on a number of anthologies. He holds a B.S. in speech and an M.A. in psychology from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in communications from Kent State University. Waugh is currently a professor at the University of Maine at Augusta.

Waugh attributes his editing career to a chance meeting with Martin H. Greenberg at a Boston science fiction convention where they both went to see Isaac Asimov speak. This is yet another instance in which the line between the writers and the fans in the science fiction world has traditionally been blurred, a kind of symbiotic relationship that seems to be slipping away as the distance between authors and readers grows in some ways, and shrinks in others.

Author - Wilde, Fran

Birth: I don't know when, but since I've met her, I'm pretty sure it happened at some point in the past.

Death: Still flying on bone wings.

Comments: Fran Wilde is an American science fiction author. She has published numerous pieces of short fiction, and as of 2016, two novels titled Updraft and Cloudbound. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Wilde has an M.A. in information architecture and interaction design and an M.F.A. in poetry. She has had stories published in Asimov's Science Fiction, Nature Magazine, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and Tor.com. In 2016, her novel Updraft was nominated for both the Nebula Award for Best Novel and the Andre Norton Award, making it the first book to receive both honors.

Comments: Sam Weller is a science fiction author and the authorized biographer of Ray Bradbury. he has published two books about Bradbury, a biography titled The Bradbury Chronicles, and a collection of interviews with the author titled Listen to the Echoes: The Ray Bradbury Interviews. He has also published several pieces of short fiction. He is also an associate professor at Columbia College, Chicago. Sam Weller is also the name of a character in the Dickens novel The Pickwick Papers.

Author - Wolverton, Dave

Death: Still alive and writing fantasy under the name David Farland.

Comments: Dave Wolverton is an American science fiction and fantasy author and English professor. He writes science fiction under his own name, and fantasy under the pseudonym David Farland. Wolverton won the Writers of the Future contest in 1987, and has since served as a judge for the contest and the editor for its annual anthology. Wolverton has written numerous science fiction novels, including several novels set in the Star Wars universe. As a fantasy author, he is best known for his Runelords series. He has worked at Brigham Young University as an English professor, and in that position has taught and influenced a collection of science fiction and fantasy authors that includes Brandon Sanderson, Eric Flint, and Stephanie Meyer.

Comments: Gordon van Gelder is an American science fiction author, editor, and publisher. A graduate of Princeton University, van Gelder worked as an editor for St. Martin's Press for many years, and served as the managing editor of The New York Review of Science Fiction from 1988 to 1993. Van Gelder took over as editor of Fantasy & Science Fiction in 1997, holding that position until 2015, and he continues to own and act as publisher for the magazine. Van Gelder has been nominated for the Hugo Award numerous times, and has won it twice. He has also won the World Fantasy Award twice and has served as an administrator for the Philip K. Dick Award since 1995.
