Follow Friday - A Fortnight of Fridays

It's Friday again, which means it's time for Follow Friday. To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Host (Parajunkee) and any one else you want to follow on the list.
  2. Follow the Featured Blogger of the week - Marie and Brie at Romance Around the Corner.
  3. Put your Blog name and URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments.
  5. Follow, follow, follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "Hi".
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the love . . . and the followers.
  7. If you want to show the link list, just follow the link below the entries and copy and paste it within your post!
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday Hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
And now for the Follow Friday Question: Do you have anyone that you can discuss books with in real life? Tell us about him or her.

I am blessed to have many people I can talk to about books. My father is a historian and a long time science fiction aficionado. My best friend is also a huge science fiction buff. I have several other friends who I play role-playing games with who talk science fiction and fantasy books with me. For the most part, I have surrounded myself with people who share my love of books, and in many cases, who share my love of speculative fiction. And for having those people in my life, I am always grateful.

  1. Hopping through. How cool that your dad is a historian! I'm a real history buff. What period does he specialize in?

  3. Hiya new follower here from Follow me Friday. I talk books to all of my friends at Goodreads, its where I get all my suggestions of what to read next and what to avoid!

  4. Hi-I am just hopping by to say Hello- The Reading Life. I return all follows and comments Mel u

  5. Stopping by from FF. While my wife and I share a slight book addiction, she's yet to embrace the world of Sci-Fi...

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Surrounding yourself with people that enjoy the same things you do is the way to go. I belong to a book club of sorts in which we discuss books, host authors at our parties, and go to author signings. It's a lot of fun to share those things with someone.

  7. Happy Friday!!! I am a new follower hopping through...Love your blog and look forward to following.

  11. @Alison What every ABD historian specializes in: The Civil War and reconstruction. Also, he has a strong interest in the Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt.

  12. @BLHmistress: It is enjoyable. I majored in History for my B.A. so we've got that in common too. I took a left turn after that and went to law school isntead of more study in history (or economics, my other undergraduate degree).

  13. @My keeper shelf: So nice of you to come by! I have all my books posted on LibraryThing. I've thought about starting up at Goodreads too, but it would take me months to get everything on there. I'll probably do it eventually though.

  14. @Two Bibliomaniacs: I've often found that starting a reader new to science fiction with LeGuin does the trick - The Left Hand of Darkness or the Lathe of Heaven are good options.

  15. @Jenni: It sounds like you are living a life that I would love! So much booky goodness!

  16. @C.G. Powell: Thank you for following. I love your blog! And Culpeper? I went to Woodberry Forest School, right next door!

  17. @Jess: Talking books with people is one of the best things in life. Forget Conan's list, talking books is at the top of mine.

  18. @BookMarc Blogpants: I love your blog theme. I hope to provide sufficient science fiction goodness to keep you interested.

  19. @Tyraa: Good to meet you! My siblings are too far away for me to really book talk with them very often, but whenever we do get together, we get some book talk in.
