Book Blogger Hop September 6th - September 12th: The Area Code for Cape Canaveral Is 3-2-1 (Liftoff!)

Jen at Crazy for Books restarted her weekly Book Blogger Hop to help book bloggers connect with one another, but then couldn't continue, so she handed the hosting responsibilities off to Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. The only requirements to participate in the Hop are to write and link a post answering the weekly question and then visit other blogs that are also participating to see if you like their blog and would like to follow them.

This week Billy asks: What would you give as a birthday gift to a fellow book lover?

The most obvious answer is a book.

Of course, when giving a book as a gift, the question is always "which book", because not all books are created equal. You want to make sure you tailor the book to the recipient, matching the proper book to the proper person. But to do that, one needs to know the recipient's tastes fairly well, and thus it can only be done for people that one knows fairly well. Then again, I don't often find myself in a situation in which I am giving a gift to someone that I know well enough to know they are a book lover but don't know well enough to have a reasonable grasp of their book preferences, so that works out okay.

  1. And chances are that if you did get a book they wold like, they would probably have it already. I prefer to give gift cards for a favourite bookshop. One of my friends loves iTunes cards, which she immediately spends on ebooks she has been wanting, but not everybody like ebooks. However, you’d know that much about a friend.
