Birth: In Moscow when it was still part of the U.S.S.R.

Death: Still alive and doing molecular genetics.

Comments: J.M. Sidorova is a Russian born molecular geneticist and science fiction author. Sidorova studied at Moscow State University and the Russian Academy of Sciences, eventually earning her Ph.D. in molecular genetics. She has since moved to the United States and is currently an assistant professor at the University of Washington.

In addition to her research as a genticist, Sidorova writes science fiction on the side. She attended the Clarion West writers' workshop in 2009. Sidorova also writes a blog named Narratology.
