Author - Simak, Clifford D.

Birth: August 3, 1904.

Death: April 25, 1988.

Comments: Clifford D. Simak was an American science fiction author who was named a Grand Master by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1977. Simak was one of the few science fiction authors of the pre-Campbell era whose career survived into the Campbell era and beyond. Simak won the International Fantasy Award for his book City, and the Hugo award for his book Way Station. Simak also earned a Hugo award for his novella The Big Front Yard, which is one of my favorite pieces of shorter fiction. He was not as influential as authors like Asimov, Clarke, or Heinlein, but probably deserves to be ranked in the group just behind the "Big Three".

There is a fan site dedicated to Simak, and he has a page at the Templeton Gate and the Internet Speculative Fiction Database.
