Author - Brin, David

Brin at MidAmeriCon II
Birth: October 6, 1950.

Death: Still alive and being contrary.

Comments: David Brin is an American science fiction author and physicist best known for his Uplift series of books. Brin holds a B.S. in astrophysics from the California Institute of Technology and an M.S. in applied physics and Ph.D. in space science from the University of California, San Diego. Brin's fiction has met with much acclaim - he has been nominated for multiple awards and has won the Hugo Award three times, the Nebula Award once, and the Locus Award several times. Brin is known for being a contrarian, and has been highly critical of some beloved franchises such as Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, and though his criticisms often sting, they are always well-argued.

Brin has a website named Worlds of David Brin. He also writes a blog titled Contrary Brin and can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
