Death: June 1, 2014.
Comments: Jay Lake was an American science fiction author well-known for his love of Hawaiian shirts and his public losing battle with cancer. In his too-short career, he published ten novels and numerous works of short fiction. Along the way he won the Campbell Award for Best New Writer and a Locus Award while also receiving nominations for the Hugo, Nebula, Campbell, and World Fantasy Awards. He was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2008, and went on to blog extensively about his experiences related to the disease, the entries of which he gathered into a comprehensive Index of Cancer Blogging.
Lake has a website dedicated to his work titled Jay Lake, Writer. He can also be found on Twitter, although the account last tweeted in October of 2014.
