Comments: Donald E. Palumbo is an American college professor, author, and editor. Palumbo holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, and is currently a member of the English faculty of East Carolina University.

In the genre fiction world, Palumbo is probably most associated with the Critical Explorations in Science Fiction and Fantasy series of books by MacFarland Publishing for which he has acted as the series editor. he has also written several volumes of criticism focused on issues in science fiction and fantasy in general, as well as critical evaluations of the works of Asimov, Herbert, and Tolkien, and the Star Wars series. In addition to his book-length works, Palumbo has published a number of essays exploring various topics in science fiction.
