Death: Still alive and writing.
Comments: Carol Emswiller is a science fiction and fantasy author and the widow of artist Ed Emswhiller. She has won two Nebula Awards, and she was honored with a World Fantasy Award for lifetime achievement. Her publisher apparently keeps falsely putting a blurb on her books saying she won a Hugo Award, which she hasn't, and she is apparently very embarrassed by her publisher doing this and has asked them several times to stop doing so.
Interestingly, even though she is a published author now, when she was in school she apparently did quite poorly, and even to this day has trouble with spelling. She claims that she failed freshman English while she was a student at the University of Michigan and only began to become interested in writing near the close of her time there. She has a website named Carol Emshwiller's Official Home Page, and there is a fan site dedicated to the author called The Carol Emshwiller Project.
