Comments: Raymond F. Jones was an American science fiction author best known for his 1952 novel This Island Earth. Though he was most prolific in the 1940s and 1950s, Jones' career as a writer lasted until the 1970s, during which time he published more than a dozen novels and a large number of works of short fiction. Jones' story Rat Race was nominated for a Hugo Award in 1967, and Correspondence Course, originally published in 1945, was nominated for a Retro Hugo in 1996.
