Author - Biggle Jr., Lloyd

Birth: April 17, 1923.

Death: September 12, 2002.

Comments: Lloyd Biggle, Jr. was a science fiction author and oral historian. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, a conflict in which he was wounded and disabled, Biggle returned to school eventually earning a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. After earning his doctorate, he taught at his alma mater and Eastern Michigan University before taking up writing full time in 1963.

In addition to being a successful author, Biggle is notable as one of the founding members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He was also a founding member of the Science Fiction Oral History Association, an organization devoted to maintaining recordings of science fiction writers discussing their writing, and making speeches. Biggle was an extremely prolific author, and several of his stories were published after his death, as he wrote stories quicker than they could be published in science fiction magazines.
