Comments: Alan Smale is a British-born physicist and science fiction author. Smale was born in Leeds, England, and attended Oxford University, earning a B.A. in physics and a Ph.D. in astrophysics from that institution. In 1988, Smale emigrated to the United States and has been working for NASA in some capacity ever since. Smale is also a member of the a capella singing group The Chromatics. The band can also be found on the website Astro Capella which was created to support their CD compilation of original songs about astronomy.
