Comments: Jerry Pournelle is an American author and political scientist best known for writing military science fiction and his frequent collaborations with fellow science fiction author Larry Niven. In addition to his science fiction writing career, Pournelle has also worked in Los Angeles city politics and as an advocate for the aerospace industry, where he pushed for the development of space-based weapons, including the Strategic Defense Initiative proposed by then President Ronald Reagan.
