Author - Butcher, Jim

Birth: October 26, 1971.

Death: Still alive and writing about wizards in fantasy Chicago.

Comments: Jim Butcher is an American fantasy author best known for his long-running urban fantasy series The Dresden Files. Butcher has also written the fantasy series The Codex Alera, and is currently writing the steampunk series The Cinder Spires. Butcher styles himself the "longshot author", a reference to how difficult it is for an aspiring writer to become published, and has been quite open about the extensive legwork he put in to secure an agent and a publishing contract. Butcher is also a tabletop gamer and a LARPer, and authorized the game company Evil Hat Productions to make a Dresden Files-based role-playing game.

Butcher has a website named Jim Butcher, and he writes a blog on LiveJournal. He can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.
