Musical Artist - Looking Glass

Looking Glass was a band that achieved popularity in the early 1970s with its 1972 number one hit Brandy (You're a Fine Girl). Originally formed in 1969, the band knocked around for a few years before scoring any real success. Although the members of the band changed a couple of times, the most successful lineup (which produced their only really notable hit) consisted of Elliot Lurie, Jeff Grob, Larry Gonsky, and Pieter Sweval.

The band followed up Brandy with  the minor hit Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne, but were never able to replicate the success they had with their signature song. Lurie left the band in 1974, and Gonsky left in 1975, with new members coming in to take their places. After a few name changes, the band dissolved in 1979, having adopted the name Starz (a name under which the remnants of band would reform and disband multiple times over the next few decades).

Lurie had some modest success as a solo artist in the 1970s, and in 2003 he reconstituted Looking Glass with entirely new members. The song Brandy featured prominently in the 2017 movie Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2.
